"The Cubs don't hardly ever run. They don't manufacture runs. They slug it... and the pitch - the runner is going! and it's down into the rightfield corner!" I love it when these 'experts' talk...
0430 Central Edit: How 'bout them Cubbies!!?

The Indians played good, good game for them in #1, but me-thinks the Cubs beat themselves with their own nervousness last night. Either that, or they choked... |;^) - They'll do better tonight, but definitely need some "clutch" hitting. Can't keep leaving folks on base like last night. 'Course cdrsubron7, my favorite AL team got in there, against my 2nd favorite NL team, making this a difficult one to cheer for one particular team... So I still gotta go with the Cubbies, just for history's sake... Now, we don't need anything the size of Mrs. O'Leary's fire, but we do need a "Great Conflagration" under the team's collective backside...

They do nothing the easy way, they add drama but still manage to get the job done. Like you said pb, it's the first game, let's see what happens tonight.

How 'bout them Cubbies? Wow!
Joe Madden is looking better than Whitey Herzog did with the Cardinals, even when Whitey was doing the infamous "bullpen by committee" magic back in the "Mad Hungarian" days. It seemed like Herzog was clairvoyant back then when he'd make some of his substitutions during a game, but he'd always say something along the lines of "... it's in the stats - I mean, he always does well against lefties, but kills this guy especially..." So Herzog was smart. He went with the statistics and percentages.
Madden seems to be beyond that. I mean, who would think that putting a feller who hasn't played any major league, and almost NO professional baseball since April, would be a good candidate for World Series Play? I mean, this is the biggest of the big league biggie play-times ever... ?? Kyle Schwarber will long be remembered in Cubs and baseball history, but I think that Joe Madden has just cemented his plaque for Manager of the Year, Manager of the Decade, Manager of the Century, and Manager of all of All Baseball to the Wrigley Field Hall of Fame... Talk about looking to be clairvoyant. Wow! He has connections ~somewhere~... and a big, fat contract re-negotiation coming up for next year... |;^)
I just wish the Indians would have played better. They must have had the Cubbies jitters from the night before...

It's alright with me if the Indians play just the way they did last night.

Going back to Cleveland, one game at a time...

I think we ought to vote the Fox Sports announcers for the World Series off the island...
Good to see the Cubbies open it up, but man, ~pitch~ the ball. Do NOT let it go up high... oops...

What ~IS~ it with the announcers and interviewers? "Why'd you use Chapman so soon? What about tomorrow?" Duh... win today, so you can play tomorrow! They've got a bench FULL of starting pitchers, who won't have to start another game until late next March...
It's official and in the books though! Only one more major league baseball game for the year, and it is the BIG one, for the whole enchilada...
Go CUBS!!!

Did you get your "Excuse from work" cdrsubron7? There's a thing online where you can download a pre-written text file with check boxes for what happened while you were watching Game 7 tonight...
