RR, CapnScurvy, Privateer, anybody...
I'm curious about this: some Classes of the ships have multiple ship names in their Roster / x / Sea Configs, such as:
[Unit 1] Name=USS Iowa DOC=19430222 DOD=20001231
[Unit 2] Name=USS New Jersey DOC=19430523 DOD=20001231
[Unit 3] Name=USS Wisconsin DOC=19440416 DOD=20001231
[Unit 4] Name=USS Missouri DOC=19440611 DOD=20001231
Do those have to be "specifically" called, such as I'm going to bring the Missouri into a mission off of Okinawa in January of 1945, and I do Name=_USS Missouri Class=BBIowa Type=20 etc...
correct??
Does the game "pull" the BBIowa class config, and make it BB-64, the USS Missouri, or is it just a "BBIowa Class" vessel that has the name "_USS Missouri" in the MIS file only, or does that "Name=" thingie even matter?

I really don't think it matters, pb. I assume we're talking about the ME here. You can name a specific ship from the class but when in the mission it still shows up as whatever class.

That's kind of what I'm getting at... You're in you little boat, 40+ foot below the surface, scope up, using automatic, have the RecMan out, site in on a ship, and you get "Yamato CLass" - or maybe "it" (the automatic computer) sees the wart on its left knee and goes "Wait, that's not just A Yamato, that is THEE Musashi!!!"... I mean, sure there's differences between ships within the same class, but would you be able to tell them apart, unless they were about to take your periscope home with them, taking it off below the top of the sail?... The thing I wonder about the most is whether it would goof-up proper "skinning" or maybe mess with the "calling" of the ship in the ME. Just to be sure that I don't have to "Search" for anything along those lines in these Campaign and MIS files. When in doubt though, CapnScurvy's mantra has always worked thus far: "Emulate Stock"...
